Education: Masters of Science Degree in mechanical engineering, engineering technology, Green Technology, business or related field with emphasis on facilities management. Professional designation of Certified Energy Manager (CEM). Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) preferred with Masters of Science Degree in Sustainability. A Bachelors Degree plus (3) years experience may be considered in lieu of a Masters Degree.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years experience in utility and energy management, mechanical systems design, construction, and/or maintenance, or closely related field.
Ability to develop an energy management program, knowledge of HVAC and lighting systems and ability to manage budgets and work collaboratively with facility managers to drive reductions in energy usage. In addition, the candidate must possess strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Attendance: Regular Attendance is critical; must have an exemplary attendance record.
Citizenship: Must be able to verify whether U.S. citizen, resident alien, or otherwise authorized to accept employment in the U.S.
Physical Condition: Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined with or without accommodations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Auxiliary Services the Engergy Manager will...
The successful candidate will design, review, monitor and report on energy-related projects, including building renovations, new construction, testing and inspection for conformance to local codes, and annual energy audits of existing systems and facilities. Typical projects involve heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, lighting systems, building control systems, energy consumption monitoring systems and solar (photovoltaic) arrays.
The position will require the candidate to closely work with consultants, contractors, utilities and other city, state and federal government entities to identify, propose, evaluate, authorize, implement and report on energy projects. Likewise, the successful candidate will be responsible for management of the District's utility usage - electricity, water, gas, steam, and telephones; analyze current energy usage and develop the District's energy management plan in order to cost effective reduce energy utilization. The Energy Manager will be responsible for the district's utility control and tracking computer system in order to achieve this goal
The candidate must proactively monitor all activities and utility issues related to the school district, participate in new customer/prospect activities including EFP responses and prospect meetings, monitor regulatory initiatives and educate customers on their potential impact, successfully initiate renewal of accounts through contract extensions, actively balance supply with applicable tolerances to minimize penalty situations, monitor market dynamics on a regional basis to identify customer risks and opportunities.
Ultimately, this position is expected to perform these responsibilities and duties efficiently and consistently in order to yield cost savings for the school district.

Responsibilities: Ensures the Electrical Technology and Heat, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning programs meet all criteria as set forth by their respective industries. Schedules faculty and courses, prepares program budget and monitors expenditures. Facilitates curriculum development and program review, and advises students. Maintains liaison with Lansing Community College departments, external agencies, advisory committees and the greater Lansing community in regards to issues pertaining to program development and service delivery.
1. Provides program administrative leadership, but not limited to: strategic planning, program development, curriculum development, program review, accreditation application coordination, budget preparation, budget management, and analyzing current trends to continually improve program quality.
2. Develops and coordinates semester-to-semester schedules of classes and instructional activities for full-time and part-time faculty.
3. Hires part-time faculty and assists the Dean with hiring of full-time faculty. Provides orientation and mentoring. Performs evaluations of PT faculty and assists the Dean with evaluations of FT faculty.
4. Recruits students for the program using a variety of methods and partnerships.
5. Advises students seeking to become candidates to the program as well as students currently enrolled in the program. Advising is a shared governance model with the full-time faculty.
6. Manages student concerns, issues, or complaints.
7. Performs transfer credit evaluations in conjunction with program faculty.
8. Assists the Dean and works with faculty in developing funding sources for the program through grant proposals.
9. Participates in college-wide, division, and program meetings and activities as program representatives.
10. Works with the Dean to coordinate facilities and technology resources required for optimal instructional settings and student experiences.
11. Manages laboratories to include overall responsibility for operations, inventory, purchasing and health/safety compliance.
12. Disseminates information, both internally and externally, regarding program career opportunities, curricula, and course completion requirements.
13. Performs other duties as assigned by the Division Dean.
14. May be required to teach in the program area.
