The Detroit Chapter of ASHRAE invites you and your members to participate in "Seminars on Sustainability: SOS for the Environment" on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan (near Detroit).

This all-day event is a collaboration with Lawrence Technological University's Center for Sustainability, the Engineering Society of Detroit, Detroit Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, and Eastern Michigan Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers. A number of other organizations are considering endorsement, which requires a commitment to publicize the event and provide speakers, but no financial contribution.

This year, the event will be kicked off by ASHRAE Society President, Terry Townsend, and LTU President, Dr. Lewis Walker. Distinguished Lecturer, Brian P. Monk, P. Eng. will talk on indoor air quality.

Multiple seminars will be offered simultaneously; anticipated topics will include:

- ASHRAE Standard 62 Indoor Air Quality
- Labs 21 Pressure Control Systems for Clean Rooms
- 90.1 Forms Workshop
- LEED Buildings - What Have We Learned? (roundtable) Water Use/Reuse/Recycling, Green Roofs, Zero Energy Homes
- 2007 Solar Decathlon
- Life Cycle Analysis of Buildings
- Acoustic Implications of LEED Buildings
- EPact and Energy Tax Credits
- Experience with an Early Sustainable Structure
- State of Michigan Activities
- Energy Star, Sustainability for Non-Profit Structures
- Lighting and Electrical Design for Sustainability
- Impact of Sustainable Products on Maintenance
- New Specification Format and Sustainability
- AIA goal of Net Zero Energy Buildings by 2030
- Commissioning/Recommissioning for Sustainability
- Metering for Sustainability
- The Next Edition of LEED Biomass

There will also be tours of the LTU LEED building and 10kW Photovoltaic system installation.
